  1. Hi Jack, I love the idea of Jack Friday! I already have your Celtic murder mystery, I shall now help myself to a copy of your short stories too… thanks for the Christmas gift!

      • Jack, I wish that were true. You wouldn’t believe how much a negative review can knock you for six! Believe me, it does. I’m really down in the dumps right now, and know I shouldn’t let it bother me. But still…

      • Negative review? Seriously? Was it something someone posted or said to you? (I’m know, I’m being nosy, but…) Just let it go. I so enjoyed your first two books and want to read the third when you’ve finished. Guess everyone has different tastes in reading but you’ve got nothing to be depressed about when it comes to your books; story lines, characters, and settings are wonderfully interesting. Strong writing. Don’t believe me? Go re-read my reviews! (Just kidding. Hope that made you smile).

      • Yes it made me smile. 🙂 Thank you for that. The review was posted today on the Amazon UK site and it really hit me because it’s scathing – really quite nasty. I had a poor one on Goodreads, too, the other day – not as bad as this one, though. Both were about Shadow. So, all in all, I’m not too happy. On the other hand, I had a good one on Shadow on the .com site two days ago, so I’m trying to keep myself from screaming.
Sorry, Jack. I shouldn’t be burdening you with this. I know I have to accept criticism, so I’ll try to grin and bear it.

      • Just read that review, milliethom. While she’s entitled to her opinion, she fails to substantiate her claims and it looks like she has done only one other review which she’s given the same type of rating. Apparently, slamming others is her modus operandi. I recommend you let it pass as we all must do with such things. Your favorable ratings far, far out-number her rating (as they should). Focus on the good, let the negative go. Life is too short. 🙂

      • Thanks, Jack. You’re absolutely right, and that’s what I’m trying to do – focus on the good. It’s just that I’ve read many times just how detrimental reviews like that can be to authors. We’ll see. I won’t let it put me off finishing Book 3! Good luck with your promotions. 🙂

      • Her review when weighed against all the other great reviews you receive don’t even move the scale. As my grandmother would say, “Don’t let one fly spoil your picnic.” Just my opinion, but I think her review–void of any substance to support her opinion–is more damaging to her as a reviewer than it will be to you as an author. On the good side, she bought your books! 🙂

      • It’s so good to hear your positive thoughts, Jack. I’m forgetting her already …! But, in all honesty, any detrimental criticism (unsubstantiated, though it may be) makes you wonder. It’s so easy to let doubt in your own abilities set in. Anyway, she hasn’t put me off finishing Book 3. I just wish I had your know-how about promoting books. Linked In, Twitter and Google+ are foreign words to me! See…I’m cheering up, talking to you. 😀 Thank you!

  2. 🙂 I certainly hope you finish Book 3! Book 2 left us with a great ending and I am anxious to learn what happens…(can’t say anymore without spoilers). On the promotion side, I do use this WordPress site, Twitter, and Facebook for promotion but most of my sales are done in person at author events in venues like book stores ( I am doing another author sale and signing this weekend) and I have my book in local and regional stores as well; and I don’t really use Linked In or Google+ (google and I have extreme differences on their not-so-private-privacy policies so, to date, do not use them). Always happy to support fellow authors, especially good writers like you, milliethom, who have wonderful and interesting stories to tell.
